  • Provide care and support to PLHIVs and their families in collaboration with other team members and the management.
  • Create and strengthen referral mechanisms for ARV/CD4 and all health related services for PLHIVs.
  • To create enabling environment and reduce HIV related stigma and discrimination toward PWID and their families, within the existing ART, PPTCT and public sector hospitals.
  • Work in close collaboration with the designated team members to develop integrated continuum of care.
  • Establish and maintain contact with concerned governmental and non-governmental organizations.
  • Coordinate with the CoPc+ staff to ensure timely referral of HIV positive clients to the relevant services as and when required.
  • Undertake regular performance review to ensure smooth implementation of social mobilization services and quality of care.

The Global Fund for AIDS, TB & Malaria (GFATM) has approved Round-9 HIV grant for Pakistan which will be implemented by National AIDS Control Program (NACP), Nai Zindagi Trust (NZT) as Principal Recipient (PR).

Bridge Consultants Foundation is one of the Sub Recipients of this project required to implement activities under objective -1”Scale up comprehensive prevention and harm reduction services to IDUs, spouses and partners in Sanghar and Karachi (Saddar & Keamari Towns).

The Global Fund for AIDS, TB & Malaria (GFATM) has approved Round-9 HIV grant for Pakistan which is implemented by National AIDS Control Program (NACP) and Nai Zindagi Trust (NZT) as Principal Recipients(PR). Bridge Consultants Foundation is one of the Sub Recipients(SR) to implement activities under objective -1”Scale up comprehensive prevention and harm reduction services to IDUs , spouses and partners in Sanghar District of Sindh Province.

    Purpose of the Post

    To provide medical care to the injecting drug users, their families and partners in the project district. The medical services will be provided through a mobile medical unit comprising the Medical Officer and a Paramedic and also at the Project site. Medical Officer will be in charge of the mobile unit and its staff.

    Job Description / Responsibilities

    1. Service Delivery

    • Provide basic health care services to injecting drug users on regular basis and to their families and partners when required.
    • Provide STI syndromic management and follow up to clients.
    • Provide anti septic dressing (ASD) to the clients having wounds/ abscesses/injuries etc.
    • Dispense medicines to the clients.
    • Condom provision to the clients.
    • Refer clients for advanced medical treatment if required.
    • Provide information on HIV and AIDS, personal hygiene , STI counseling to the clients
    • Attend staff meetings
    • Submit daily data forms to Data Entry Operator
    • Ensure sterilization of medical equipment/instruments
    • Establish linkages with CHBC centers and hospitals for referrals
    • Maintain record of referred cases and follow up the cases
    2. Supervision/maintenance of medical equipment and medicines stock
    • Maintain stocks and record of medicines and equipment issued to the mobile unit
    • Demand Generation: Based on stocks in hand and by coordinating with admin/finance officer, generate need for medical supplies 15 days in advance and give it to the site manager

    To implement the project activities in an effective and efficient manner in accordance with the stipulated objectives and time frame

    Duration

    Initial appointment period will for 8 months with 3 months as probation period. The job contract can be extended subject to the performance assessment and availability of funds.

    Qualifications/ Experience/ Skills

    • MBBS (PMDC registered)
    • 1-2 years of relevant experience
    • Willingness to work in outreach settings with marginalized populations
    • Preference will be given to candidates who have served in projects providing HIV prevention services to injecting drug users

    Languages

    Excellent proficiency in written & spoken English and good command of local languages, especially Sindhi & Urdu languages.
